Tony had been texting Pepper, and smirks at Loki’s use of his full first name. He looks back up to Loki and continues to smirk at the way Loki stuttered, and seemed defensive which meant Tony was probably right in his assumptions and now Loki was trying to cover and hide it before he got forced into a group hug. Oh if only Rogers were here right now so he could sandwich him into a hug between them. It’d be so worth getting stabbed over.“You want me to stop? Fine. Come get on a plane to Vegas with me.”
He grabs Loki’s hands away from his chest and held onto them, as he leaned in for another quick kiss to taste Loki’s lips. A reminder of why his voice was so excited and his smile was so wide right now. Because no matter how much everyone hated or feared him or how crazy they thought Tony was, he was still in love with Loki and nothing could make him not want this.“You don’t want a big sappy affair, and I honestly don’t want most of the people we know to be there just to talk about what a bad idea it is so come on…no fancy wedding. I’ve got a private jet and let’s just get eloped.”
Tony was not right at all. If he ever tries to drag Loki in to fight with the Avengers, it’s only going to end in blood and chaos. The metaphorical leash he allowed himself when it came to Tony was brittle and ready to snap, setting him free to attack anything if anyone ever tries to train him as a mortal’s attack dog.
His next statement catches him off guard, remembering Tony once mentioned it but eloping was a foreign concept to him, lost on the aspects of it.
“Do you mean to say we could get married with no one else there? No Thor, no Rogers, no one else but us?”
The one thing that’d been holding him back whenever he looked at the ring that was destined to bond him to Tony, was the sickening thought of letting anyone else see his emotional side. The breakfast with Rogers and Coulson had barely been tolerable and ended in disaster, proving Loki’s apparent need to sabotage anything that seems to be going too smoothly.
“What are we waiting for?”
That’s all the answer Tony needs. In the movies, they could have flowers and ceremonies, tears of joy and friendly family and friends telling them what a lucky and beautiful couple they were. Some true romantics at heart in real life could have that too but Tony Stark had his mischief God and he was going to pick Loki up and throw him over his shoulder.
“What ARE we waiting for. Jarvis, alert my pilot that we’re going to be needing the private jet ASAP for a flight to Las Vegas. I’ve got a man to marry.” Las Vegas might even be an already programmed flight plan from how often Tony went there.
“And last time I checked, I didn’t need any extra protection. I’m telling you this now Tony. My armor. Is better. Than yours.”
Completely avoiding the fact that the idea of flying in what he could only describe as a metal deathtrap made him more nervous than the wrath of Odin, Loki tapped his own fingers against the arc reactor in Tony’s chest, the blue glow illuminating his fingertips as Tony places a hand on his chest.
“You have your armor and your flight. I have my armor and magic. You fly through the skies and I’ll stay on the ground and we’ll stay like that, yes?”
Not giving him a chance to answer or worse, protest against it and try to push the flight on the Jotun again, he leans forward to press his lips against Tony’s once again. It seemed to be the only way to shut him up or the only distraction that lasted more than a few seconds.
Usually kissing or touching Loki could take Tony’s mind off anything because it reminded him that all that mattered sometimes was what was here and now and in his grasp. But something in Loki’s words keeps Tony from putting his heart into the kiss as he kisses him back. Usually Tony would use this time to press their touches further and try to get Loki up on the table where he could lean over him and be the taller one for a change and cover him with heated kisses. But Loki was always so careful with his words. It was something that slipped through that has Tony faltering.
“You…say that like you plan on fighting by my side.” He murmurs against Loki’s lips, his heart skipping a beat as he tries to imagine a life where Loki is part of the team instead of an uneasy ally on the sidelines waiting to snap and go darkside.
He’s not even pissed about how aggressive Loki seems to prove his armor is better. If anything, it makes Tony start to think about begging him to let him examine the Asgardian armor and try to duplicate it to make his new suits out of. He always figured it was Loki who was tougher, not his armor. But if it’s really his armor and he can custom it to his suits maybe if Thor ever wanted a rematch he’d stand a better chance instead of having his armo crushed like a tin can.
“No- I- …No.”
Pulling back, Loki faltered and hesitated, his eyes darting away from those damned deep brown eyes that were staring him down. Uneasy ally on the sidelines was right, he’d stand by and watch over Tony, ward off anything that looked like it might be a potential threat to the mortal that he’d claimed as his own, but as far as willingly joining a fight to fight for all of humankind…forget it. He had no desire to protect any human that wasn’t Tony.
“You’re reading too much into that Anthony. Stop it.”

OVER MY DEAD BODY.
As soon as Tony pushes aside the glowing blue notes hovering in the air between them, Loki is against him again, pressing him against one of the tables and trapping him there with his body. The idea of Tony protecting him never even crossed his mind, not even considering a possibility that he’d ever be in a danger where a mortal would need to save him. In his eyes, he was the definite stronger of the two and if anyone would need saving, it would be Tony.“And what would your friends say of you equipping their enemy with new weapons and defenses? Does your one-eyed friend know of this?”
“Nick? Nope. Haven’t talked to him since I quit the Avengers and Jarvis is completely secure. Not even Shield can hack into my baby.” Dum E seemed to give a disappointed whrr in the corner in his dunce cap, but the robot should know that since it was the first one Tony ever built and he’d never get rid of him, that he always held a special place in Tony’s heart. Through all the upgrades, he hadn’t given him a voice or body like Jarvis though, not wanting to take away what made Dum E, Dum E.
“And my friends can bite me. I’m not equipping an enemy here, I’m giving my fiance protection. Last time I checked, that wasn’t illegal. And last time I checked, I also don’t give a shit.”
Especially not with Loki close to him like this. Tony places his hand over Loki’s chest, reminding him that no matter what he’d done in his past, he still had a living, beating heart and as long as there was a pulse in him there was hope for him. Everyone else may have turned their backs on him and painted him as a monster but Tony would be the one to stand by him.
